MANILA, Philippines – Newlywed Jeron Teng might have received his best wedding present ever after inking a two-year deal with San Miguel on Wednesday, October 18.
Just a day after the PBA released the Season 48 official team rosters, Jeron Teng has found his new home in San Miguel Beermen.
The Beermen after failing to add 9th-round selection Kyt Jimenez to its lineup as the influencer-cager failed to secure his release papers from MPBL-GenSan Warriors have bolstered its frontcourt rotation with Teng.
The former DLSU Green Archer who was in status quo for quite some time after not making terms with Converge FiberXers will bring 14.5ppg, 7.25rpg, and 2.0spg to San Miguel and make the team a more solid contender in the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup.
The question however is, how much playing time will Teng get from Coach Jorge Gallent considering that SMB is a guard-heavy squad?
As of writing, Teng is the Beermen’s 4th-string point guard behind, Simon Enciso, Terrence Romeo, and Chris Ross while shadowing CJ Perez, Jericho Cruz, and Marcio Lassiter in the number two position.
The Alaska Aces’ 2017 fifth-pick overall must move heaven and earth to impress Coach Gallent and his trusted assistants to earn a decent playing time this conference and in tournaments to come.
On Monday, October 16, the 6’2” guard tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend and former UAAP courtside reporter, Jeanine Tsoi followed by social media rumors that a PBA team is about to sign the prolific scorer which happened to be San Miguel.
Teng is a second-generation player and son of a PBA legend, Alvin “Robocop” Teng who also played for San Miguel in the early 90’s.
San Miguel’s first match of the conference will be against the NLEX Road Warriors on November 15 at 8PM where Teng is expected to make a debut as a Beerman.
