MANILA, Philippines – As they say, "Honesty is the best policy." A person with a sincere and pure heart will consistently exhibit it, no matter where they are or what situation they find themselves in.
In the hardships of life today, anyone who returns a valuable item, such as a wallet containing money, is like a diamond in the haystack.
Therefore, many netizens were impressed by a mailman named Ruben Gregorio from San Mateo, Rizal, after he returned a wallet he found containing several thousand pesos and important documents such as an ID.
It can be read on the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) Facebook post last October 2, 2023 that Ruben, their employee, exhibited honesty during his time of duty.
The wallet was returned on September 26, and it was later discovered that a teacher was its rightful owner.
“Si Ruben Gregorio ay isang kartero mula sa San Mateo, Rizal na may asawa at apat na anak. Siya ay nakatalagang maghatid ng mga liham at parsela sa liblib at bulubunduking mga barangay ng Pintong Bukawe, Timberland at Maarat.”
“Noong nakaraang Setyembre 26, 2023 ay napulot ni Ruben ang wallet ng gurong si Romeo Nabo na naglalaman ng ilang libong salapi at mahahalagang mga dokumento.”
“Agad na kinontak ni Ruben ang may-aring si Romeo upang isauli, na siya namang personal na kumuha ng kanyang wallet,” it stated.
The entire management of PHLPost and his colleagues are very proud of Ruben for the honesty he displayed.
“Ang naturang pangyayari ay lubos na ikinagalak ng kanyang mga kasamahan sa trabaho at lubos na ipinagmamalaki ng Philippine Postal Corporation.”
"Ang simpleng tagumpay na ito ay nagpapakita ng magandang ehemplo upang tularan ng iba,” according to Postmaster General Luis Carlos.
