MANILA, Philippines – After the emotions of netizens were stirred by the story of a Badjao pupil who picked flowers for his teacher on World Teachers' Day, financial assistance reportedly poured in for him and other Badjao learners in their school.
"This morning, one of my students, a Badjao, approached me and said, 'Sir, I don't have a gift for you today because we don't have money, but I picked flowers to give to you, sir." I noticed that he didn't have slippers or shoes, so I asked him, 'Why don't you have slippers?' He replied, 'I was in a hurry, sir, so I wouldn't be late for class to give this to you.' (Almost every day, I always noticed this child going to school barefoot.)," Teacher Dennis Gerodias said on his viral Facebook post.
According to a recent update on the Facebook post of Teacher Dennis, after raising funds from concerned netizens, he immediately took his student John Bryan to a mall and grocery store to buy him essential supplies.

"Nakapamili na kami ng mga tsinelas at rubber shoes para kay John Bryan (yung Badjao learner ko sa viral post) at ang mga classmates nya. Bumili rin kami ng bags na may kompletong school supplies na magagamit nila. Nag-grocery din po kami para sa kanilang pamilya para magamit nila sa pang-araw2x. Bibili na sana kami ng mga complete sets ng uniforms (upper at lower) pati mga school shoes nila nang biglang sumama yung panahon dito (malakas na ulan, kulog at kidlat)."
"Para sa safety ng mga bata, minabuti po naming umuwi muna at ipagpapatuloy ang pamimili bukas ng iba pang mga gamit na kakailanganin nila pati ang bigas at solar para sa tahanan ng pamilya ni John Bryan. Kasalukuyang po naming hinihintay na matapos ang pagkokolekta namin ng mga sizes ng paa sa lahat ng mga Badjao learners namin dito sa Dolho upang mabilhan din po namin silang lahat pati mga school supplies na icocover po sa mga susunod na vlog."
"Antabayanan po ninyo ang simpleng VLOG namin mamayang gabi o bukas. MARAMING SALAMAT PO MGA KA-IPs. Kayo po ang tunay na bayani dahil sa mga tulong na binigay nyo🫶."
