‘Relatable?’ ‘Stress Drilon’ trends in new milk tea commercial

MANILA, Philippines – The veteran and former ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon has shown her ability not to take herself too seriously by starring in a comical commercial that humorously incorporates gay lingo inspired by her persona.

In this amusing commercial, the esteemed journalist humorously embodied "Stress Drilon," a slang term used to describe someone who is overwhelmed by stress.

Produced by the same creative team responsible for trending and quirky alien-themed advertisements, Gigil Group subjected Drilon to a series of unfortunate incidents.

Her day started with the accidental substitution of salt for coffee (instead of sugar) leaving her in a bad mood due to the excessively salty beverage.

As if that wasn't enough, she discovered that her car's tire had been punctured by a hammer, preventing her from driving to work. She has decided to take public transportation.

While she was waiting alongside other commuters, Ces anticipated the impending rain and proudly took her umbrella in sight. Regrettably, she was accidentally drenched in muddy water from a passing vehicle navigating a puddle.

Soaked and frazzled, she finally reached her office, perplexing the guard with her presence. Her annoyance evidently grown when the guard asked about her purpose. When she answered that she was going to work, the guard informed her that it was a Sunday and, therefore, there's no work to be done.

Amidst various occurrences, Ces directed her anger and frustrations towards a giant Coco Fresh Tea and Juice outlet, puncturing it while unleashing a barrage of profanity.

She then proceeded to order a Coco Fresh milk tea, and a smile quickly graced her face, as if the invigorating taste of the beverage had provided a welcome respite from the day's challenges.

The last “unfortunate” scenario was when Ces unintentionally treaded on a pile of dog poop. It was truly a day that could be labeled as a "Stress Drilon" day.

“Stress Drilon” went viral on X and video clips were shared on other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok because it was relatable, according to netizens.

In 2007, Drilon, along with several other Filipino journalists, was temporarily held in custody by the Philippine military while covering the Manila Peninsula rebellion, shortly after the uprising had been suppressed.

Then, in June 2008, she and her associates were abducted by the Abu Sayyaf group in Sulu, but they were subsequently liberated.
