MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted Luzon areas with epicenter in Zambales on Thursday afternoon, July 6, 2023, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said it traced the epicenter of the earthquake 26 kilometers southwest of Palauig town in Zambales. It had a depth of 46 kilometers.
The earthquake, recorded at 3:16 PM, was of tectonic origin.
Intensity 3 was felt in Quezon City.
Instrumental Intensity III was also recorded in Botolan, Iba, Cabangan and San Marcelino, Zambales.
The tremor was unlikely to trigger aftershocks and damage, Phivolcs said.
