MANILA, Philippines – Mikaela Andrea Tampilic Bonador from the University of the Philippines – Diliman is among the 6 teachers who ranked No. 1 in the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) - Elementary Level, released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Friday, May 19.
Mikaela topped the recent board examination for teachers with a rating of 92.20%. As a topnotcher, Mikaela shared some advice to those aspiring teachers and also some "words of wisdom" about finding your purpose as a teacher. In an interview via Carl E. Balita's Facebook page, Mikaela mentioned about having "no-zero days," which means reviewing and learning every day, no matter how little or how long you read or study.
"Kasi po kapag iisipan mong sobrang dami mo pangire-review, parang ayaw mo na mgreview," she explained.
Another important advice she shared is to always believe in yourself. According to her, it's normal that we sometimes doubt ourselves if we can do it. However, as we learn to believe in ourselves, we empower ourselves to seek out resources and tools that can assist us.
A self-confessed introvert, Mikaela admitted that she's not the person who dreams big in life. She said she has always been a simple person who would rather dream deep. She explains how important it is to be able to know that you truly want to do and where you can find fulfillment in life.
"I think many teachers can relate that not all parents are supportive of their goal of becoming a teacher kasi they think underpaid 'yan. Some people po parang they look down on teachers. But I know that I really wanted to be a teacher," she said.
Mikaela explained that dreaming deep than dreaming big is about not looking for prestige or titles, but "you do what fulfills you." She added that she finds fulfillment in building good relationships and seeing her students improve.
Mikaela is among the 24,819 elementary teachers out of 60,896 examinees who passed the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
