MANILA, Philippines – Teen actor Andrei Sison tragically died at the age of 17 after getting in a car accident in Quezon City on Friday, March 24.
According to investigators, Sison was riding in a BMW sedan with two other passengers in the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Old Balara, going for Philcoa.
Regrettably, the BMW driver lost control and sideswiped a Ford Ecosport sport utility vehicle before crashing into a subdivision's concrete gate. According to authorities, the incident occurred at about 2:40 a.m.
Responders brought the teen artist, two passengers, and the driver to the East Avenue Medical Center. The actor later died while the three others were injured. The authorities are withholding the names of the others involved because two of them are minors.
Sison’s talent agency, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, confirmed Sison’s death, describing him as a "well-loved and much-cherished member of the Sparkle family."
The actor finished taping for a variety program at the GMA Studios around 7 p.m., and the agency received word of his death at 5:30 a.m. the next day.
The excerpt of the statement reads, “Sparkle GMA Artist Center sadly announces the passing of one of its teen artists Andrei Sison, due to a car accident early this morning.”
Meanwhile, Marco Sison shared his grief at the death of his grandson, Andrei. He described his grandson to be a bit shy but sings very well.
Sison said, “Our family is saddened by the sudden tragic demise of Andrei. He’s only 17 years old. I, along with his father Alain (aka Marco Salvador), saw some promise of him entering the showbiz industry. He sings really well and his father sends me his voice recordings from time to time. Medyo mahiyain siya but there’s potential and my advice to him was practice more.”
"We appreciate all your messages of condolences, these will help us through our grieving process knowing that Andrei is loved and remembered by his friends. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” he added.
The teen artist will be laid to rest at the Loyola Memorial Chapels and Crematorium in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
