MANILA, Philippines – A woman and her sister from Pagadian City were arrested for a fraudulent act done during a licensure exam. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested them on October 2 after the elder sister took the licensure exam on behalf of her younger sister.
According to the NBI, [Elder sister] took the October 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) instead of the exam taker, [Younger sibling].
During the exam at the Pagadian City National High School Danlugan campus, one of the proctors already noticed the woman in the photos attached to the Permanent Examination, Registration Record Card (PERRC) and the Notice of Admission (NOA) looked far different from the one actually taking the exam. The proctor described it as a “glaring discrepancy” that could not go unnoticed. The incident prompted the proctor to report it to her building supervisor, who sought the assistance of NBI in Pagadian District Office (NBI-PABDO).
During the investigation, [Elder sister] easily admitted that she had taken the LET for [Younger sibling] after she asked her to do it. The NBI’s report stated, “The subject also revealed that [Younger sibling] is her younger sister and that the latter asked her to take the examination on her behalf.”
Due to the incident, [Elder sister] was arrested and presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutors' Office of Pagadian City for Falsification of Official Document under Article 172 in relation to Article 171, paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code. [Younger sibling] was also accused of participating in the fraudulent act and was listed as a respondent.
