LIST: VP Sara Duterte's accomplishments in first 100 days

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio marked her first 100 days in office on Friday, October 7.

According to the Vice President and Education Secretary, her most significant accomplishment is the resumption of face-to-face classes. She cited how face-to-face learning has been known to be more beneficial to learners than distance learning.

"Ang pinakamahalaga na masasabi ko na nagawa natin as a country is naibalik natin ‘yung ating in-person classes sa ating mga eskwelahan," she said.

"Marami ang studies na nagsasabi na mas malaki ang benepisyo para sa isang estudyante kung meron siyang in-person classes. Kaya napakahalaga na nabalik natin ang option na iyon sa ating mga eskwelahan—-ang mag-conduct ng five days in-person classes," the VP added.

Duterte-Carpio said they are still preparing their first 100 days final report. But for now, here are some of her accomplishments and notable policies.

As Vice President
  • Appointed as the Education Secretary
  • Established satellite offices for the Office of the Vice President in Cebu City, Dagupan, Davao City, Tacloban, Tandag, and Zamboanga City
  • Transferred OVP office nearer to the headquarters of the Department of Education in Pasig

As Education Secretary
  • First order: Schools can prepare for the mandatory in-person classes by choosing five-day in-person classes or blended learning between August 22 to October 31
  • Resumption of mandatory in-person classes starting November 2, 2022
  • School uniforms and vaccination among students are not required for face-to-face learning.
  • Called for the reinstatement of the mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)
  • Launched the Libreng Sakay Program for students alongside the Department of Transportation
