MANILA, Philippines – A Grand Lotto bettor surprised everyone when he showed up with 2 winning tickets after winning the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot last Saturday, October 1.
Following the ruckus that happened after 433 bettors won the P236-million Grand Lotto jackpot last Saturday, another seemingly extraordinary circumstance happened again. A winner won the jackpot twice.
One lucky bettor hit the jackpot twice by presenting two winning tickets for the Grand Lotto 6/55, according to Melquiades Robles, general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). According to the manager, the bettor accidentally bet on the same number twice and decided to just pay for the tickets.
Robles explained, “Sabi niya dalawang ticket siya. Sabi ko, 'Bakit dalawang ticket, 'di ba strange yung series of 9?' Sabi niya, 'Aksidente lang eh. Napindot. Pagtaya ko sumama yung isa pa.' So nagkaron siya ng dalawang ticket... Lumabas na yung pangalawang ticket, binayaran niya na rin.”
“So, I'm sure now that the 433 (winning individuals) are actually 432,” he added.

The winners will divide the P236-million jackpot prize. Each of the 432 winners will receive a cheque for Php 545,245.24 subject to 20% tax.
Because of the “accident,” the lucky bettor gets two cheques for the two winning tickets and takes home Php 1,090.490. The incident was honored by PCSO corporate planning department representative Roselle dela Umbria since each ticket has its own code.
The winning combination that has raised controversy, as well as suspicion, is 9-18-27-36-45-54. The unique combination consists of a multiple of nine.
Robles allayed the suspicions of the public that the occurrence of multiple winners in a combination is possible. He said 9 is a popular number in lotto number combinations.
