MANILA, Philippines – A couple from Dalaguete town in southern Cebu is proud that they are on their way to a brighter future.
They say pursuing education knows no age. This is truly true, especially for those people who are motivated by their love for their family.
Like any loving parents, Rochelle and Edgardo Dela Torre hope to give their children a better future. Edgardo is a hollow block maker and a barangay tanod while Rochelle is a homemaker. They believe that education is a big step towards achieving their dream.
Together, they studied as Elementary learners under the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) from 2021 to 2022.
After all their hard work and sacrifices, the couple graduated and got their elementary education diploma during the face-to-face graduation last September 6.
Photographer Aneza Cayme was able to share a photo of the couple's memorable day. According to her, she witnessed how the couple worked hard in the hopes of a brighter future for their family.
“Silang dalawa ay may mataas na pananaw na makapagtapos ng pag -aaral upang mabigyan nila ng magandang buhay ang kanilang mga anak gaano man kahirap ang maaari nilang madaraanan," she wrote.
Aneza added how the couple's achievement is proof that nothing is impossible with determination. Despite their age, the couple persevered to finish their elementary education.
"Silang dalawa ay patunay na hindi sagabal ang pagkakaroon ng anak at kahit may edad na upang abutin ang mga pangarap sa buhay. Binigyan nila ng malaking halaga ang edukasyon,” she added.
