Passing the NQESH) is one of the requirements for the appointment and reclassification of all aspiring applicants for Principal and Assistant Principal positions in all public elementary and secondary schools.
To determine who will qualify for the next stage of the selection process for a Principal I position, an order of merit will be used. The procedure will not employ usual pass or fail scores rather will identify ranking of the examinees based on their ability level vis a vis the difficulty level of the test items.
The test items are aligned with the competencies set out in the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) or DepEd Order No. 024, s. 2020, and were developed using the Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) model.
It was developed and validated through DepEd’s partnership with the Philippine Normal University – Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ), with assistance from SiMERR National Research Centre of the University of New England-Australia.
