MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN's noontime show It’s Showtime will soon join forces with TV's 'Lunch Out Loud.'
Amid continuing news of celebrities moving to rival networks, many netizens were surprised a noontime show will shift its home network. Many didn't see it coming that ABS-CBN's It's Showtime will soon join its rival noontime show, Lunch Out Loud (LOL).
The announcement was made in a teaser from TV5 on Wednesday night. The teaser stated, "Mas papasayahin, mas bubusugin at mas palalakasin pa ang samahan at halak-hakan sa tanghalian. Ang dating magkatapat, magkapatid na ngayon!"
According to the report, the merging of shows will start this July. It's Showtime is already in its 12th year and the move will definitely bring in a big change in the variety show. It has been home to the popular singing contest 'Tawag ng Tanghalan,' beauty pageant 'Showtime Sexy Babe' and parlor game 'Palarong Pangmadla." It’s still not sure what format the noontime show will have now that it's with LOL but TV5 assured its viewers that they will enjoy “back-to-back” entertainment.
Aside from the format, many netizens couldn't help but be intrigued about the personalities involved in the merging of the shows.
Earlier, there have been rumors that Vice Ganda will move to GMA after he was spotted with Kapuso director Bobot Mortiz. But it looks like the comedian is set to stay with It’s Showtime.
TV5 confirmed that Vice Ganda will still be part of the show. It can be recalled that Vice admitted feeling hurt when their former It’s Showtime director Bobet Vidanes moved to Lunch Out Loud. Additionally, there have been speculations that Billy Crawford, main host of LOL and a previous host of It's Showtime, has a rift with Vice.
For the meantime, stay tuned on The Summit Express for more updates on the revamping of the two noontime shows.
