PRC: Batch 2021, 2022 graduates not allowed to take September 2022 LET

MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) will not allow graduates of year 2021 and 2022 to take the September 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) based on 2022 Enhanced Tables of Specifications (TOS) and the new curriculum.

UPDATE: In a social media post on Saturday, June 4, 2022, PRC clarified that "those who graduated in year 2021 onwards under the old curriculum" shall be allowed to take the September 2022 LET.

PRC: Batch 2021, 2022 graduates not allowed to take September 2022 LET

In PRC Resolution No. 15 series 2022, signed on May 30, 2022 by PRC Board for Professional Teachers, the agency advised Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) graduates of 2021 onwards to apply in the next schedule of the LET starting March 2023.

According to the PRC, the 2022 Enhanced TOS was designed to align with the curricular description and components of the BEEd under Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 74 s. 2017 and the BSEd under CMO No. 75 s. 2017. It added that the first batch of BEEd and BSEd students under these new curricula graduated in 2021.

The governing body applied the 2022 TOS in the 2023 LET "in order to give the BEEd and BSEd graduates the last opportunity to take the LET this coming September 2022 based on the 2009 TOS, which is deemed more relevant to their academic preparations."

NOTE: Only graduates of BEEd and BSEd prior to the issuance of CMO Nos. 74 and 75 (s. 2017) or those who graduated in year 2020 or earlier, shall be admitted to the September 2022 schedule of LET.

PRC added that the 2023 LET and its succeeding schedules shall be open to all BEEd and BSEd graduates, regardless of the year of their graduation.

NOTE: The graduates of of BEEd and BSEd prior to the issuance of CMO Nos. 74 and 75 (s. 2017) are, however, encouraged to take refresher course/s to bridge the gap in knowledge and learning outcomes between the old and the new curricula.

The foregoing rules shall similarly apply to the graduates of equivalent baccalaureate courses with eighteen (18) units of education. As such, only those who have taken or earned their eighteen (18) education units under the old curriculum shall be admitted to the September 2022 LET, while those under the new curriculum shall be allowed to take the LET staring 2023 only.

Meanwhile, educator and review center owner Dr. Carl Balita appeals to PRC to conduct a special LET for Batch 2021 and 2022 graduates and not to wait for the March 2023 LET.

Aside from the September 2022 LET, PRC is set to hold the fourth batch of LET, for the postponed 2020-2021 exam due to the pandemic, on June 26, 2022.

  8. But not all graduates of 2021 is under the new curriculum. Our batch, the graduates of 2021 is the last product of the old curriculum because our school started to implement the new curriculum in the year 2018. And for my speculations, PRC didn't know about this things, or didn't even bother to take a survey .
