MANILA, Philippines – Anne Curtis-Smith expressed her support for Vice President Leni Robredo’s bid for the presidency on Tuesday, April 12.
On Anne’s Instagram and Twitter, the actress explained why she thinks Robredo deserves to be the next Philippine president. She posted a photo of a pink rose that her mother planted in their garden.
According to her, the pink flower symbolizes “a mother’s love” and how she hopes that a mother will also get to lead the country. She believes that the next leader will guide, protect, and love the country and the Filipino people.
The actress/host wrote Robredo’s slogan of “Kulay rosas ang bukas” and #LetLeniLead to endorse the presidentiable.
Anne wrote, “A mother’s love. Yan ang tawag sa rosas na ito. My mom planted this rose in her garden & how apt it is for this time… dahil ang pangarap ko sa ating bansa ay magkaroon ng ilaw sa ating tahanan na tinatawag nating Pilipinas na gagabay, ipaglalaban, proprotektahan at mamahalin ito… mamahalin tayo…Kaya para sa akin, #KulayRosasAngBukas 🌸🎀 #LetLeniLead #LuvAnneLeni.”
Many celebrities echoed their support for Anne’s decision. Among those who commented were proud “kakampinks” who joined Robredor’s rallies like Angel Locsin, Pokwang, Jolina Magdangal, among others.
Pokwang commented how Anne’s decision will help bring a brighter future for Anne’s daughter, Dahlia. She wrote, “Thank you nak @annecurtissmith salamat sa pagdagdag ng pag asa at kulay rosas ang bukas ni @dahliaamelieee at lahat ng kabataan.”
Because of Anne’s post, the actress and the #LuvAnneLeni quickly trended on Twitter. Her Twitter post has earned more than 88,000 likes since posting.
Earlier, Piolo Pascual also released a video endorsing Robredo’s presidential bid. The actor talked about the importance of real unity and how it was exemplified in Robredo’s campaign rallies.
The actor was taking a jab against the “Uniteam” slogan of Robredo’s rival, Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Mayor Sara Duterte. He said, “Hindi ito ‘yung pagkakaisa ng mga political dynasty para sa sarili nilang interes. Ang totoong unity ay pagkakaisa ng taumbayan.”
