MANILA, Philippines – Kapamilya star Andrea Brillantes admitted that she's been trying to convince her boyfriend Ricci Rivero to join her in supporting Vice President Leni Robredo's presidential bid.
Ricci is a supporter of Robredo's rival, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr while Andrea is a proud "kakampink." The actress is such a proud supporter of Robredo that she even joined the celebrities who performed during VP's birthday rally last Saturday, April 23.
Andrea shared a photo of her and Robredo hugging with the caption, "Happy Birthday sa aking future pangulo."
But looks like Andrea is still on her way to convincing her boyfriend Ricci to take on her political stand as well. According to an interview, Andrea is still trying to convince and convert Ricci to become a 'kakampink'.
She admitted, "I am trying, ‘wag kayong mag-alala. I’m trying like ilang months na."
According to Andrea, Ricci also assures her that he respects her decision. However, she is still hoping that she could convince him to support Robredo as well.
"He supports me supporting Leni [Robredo] at sobrang na-appreciate ko na ‘yun," she said.
“Lagi niyang sinasabi, I’ll support you, supporting Leni. Sabi ko, in the future tatanggalin mo yung ‘you.’ Sasabihin mo nang I support Leni,” she added.
The actress said while convincing Ricci is her goal, at the end of the day, they still respect each other's political opinion. While she did say in jest and admitted that she's still not giving up on her goal.
“‘Yan ang aking goal pero nirerespeto ko siya kasi nirerespeto niya rin ako. ‘Yun naman yung importante. Kahit magkaiba kami ng paniniwala at gusto pero may respeto pa rin kami sa isa’t isa, pero I’m trying pa rin,” Andrea said while laughing.
When asked if she believes there's a chance Ricci will convert, she said there's a chance and even shared how her sister was able to convince her boyfriend to become a Robredo supporter. "May chance yan," Andrea said.
In the end, Andrea encouraged other fellow 'kakampinks' to try and convince others to vote for Robredo.
"Hindi lang boyfriend, kundi nanay, tatay, ate lahat ng mga kakila mo. I'm trying," she said.
