MANILA, Philippines – Sarah Geronimo became a trending topic on Twitter after a photo of her with a composer and supporter of Leni Robredo went viral on Thursday, March 17.
Netizens were abuzz over the speculations that the Kapamilya singer is a "kakampink" or a supporter of presidentiable Leni Robredo. This came after she was spotted with Nica Del Rosario, the composer of Robredo's campaign jingles "Leni Tayo" and "Rosas."
Nica is also the composer of Sarah's hit songs 'Tala' and 'Na Na Na' (BINI).
Because of the photo, many supporters of Robredo were thrilled and excited. Many hoped that Sarah G would join the grand rally in Pasig on March 20.
A netizen tweeted, "Imagine Sarah G singing Tala & all 100k Pasig rally attendees are dancing in synch."
After their photo went viral and speculations quickly circulated, Nica went on Twitter to explain it was actually an old photo. The composer, an avid supporter of Robredo, said that she would still be there in Pasig grand rally despite the rumors being untrue.
During the 2016 elections, Sarah commented that she would not endorse any politicians. At that time, she explained how important it is to be knowledgeable in politics before endorsing. She said that if she supports someone, it’s because she genuinely believes in him/her.
She said, “The next time na mag-e-endorse ako para sa isang running politician, kailangan bukas na ang isip ko sa mundo ng politics. Basta yon, dapat naniniwala ako nang totoo sa iniendorso ko.”
Sarah previously endorsed politicians Manny Villar and Loren Legarda in 2010, Ed Angara in 2007 and Sonny Angara in 2013.
Meanwhile, Sarah’s husband, Matteo Guidecilli is a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte. Back in 2019, Matteo even met with the President and shared how much he respects him.
Matteo revealed that it was Duterte who helped convince his family to allow him to join the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Force.

Excuse my tweets about Sarah G, can't help but hope that she'll really join the people's campaign for #LeniKiko2022, kung hindi man sa Pasig, kahit saan pa yan, as long as she supports the team, I will be very happy.

Sarah G, Belle Mariano, and Donny Pangilinan, sapat na sakin.
Everytime I listen to Kay Leni Tayo, I can’t help myself but think that the song fits Sarah G’s vocals. Please universe make it happen!
