MANILA, Philippines – Seven out of nine vice presidential (VP) candidates in Election 2022 are expected to attend in the first of two vice presidential debates presented by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
The high-stake event dubbed "PiliPinas Debates 2022: The Turning Point", moderated by veteran journalist Ruth Cabal of CNN Philippines, is set at 7 pm tonight at the Sofitel Harbor Garden tent in Pasay City.

The debate will revolve around two (2) topics - domestic policy and government accountability.
Comelec also prepared 20 questions for the 2.5 hours debate proper.
Guests will be given 90 seconds to answer a question, 30 seconds for a rebuttal, and 30 seconds for a rejoinder.
Comelec also includes empty podium on stage for debate skipper to symbolize absence of the candidate.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who is running alongside Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr, had said she has decided not to attend any of the debates in the run-up to the May 9 elections.
Meanwhile, Buhay Party-list Rep. Lito Atienza, running-mate of presidential candidate Sen. Manny Pacquiao, formally declined due to medical reasons.
Confirmed guests are former Akbayan representative Walden Bello, perennial candidate for public office Rizalito David, economist Manny Lopez, cardiologist Willie Ong, Senator Francis Pangilinan, lawyer Carlos Serapio, and Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
