MANILA, Philippines – Ariana Grande couldn't help but be impressed with the thousands of people gathered in Pasig City singing her hit song, "Break Free."
The award-winning international singer posted on her Instagram story a video of the crowd who gathered for VP Leni Robredo's grand rally for Election 2022 in Pasig on Sunday, March 20.
Ariana shared an aerial shot of the "kakampinks" singing and wrote the caption, "I could not believe this was real. (pleading emojis) I love you more than words.”
The crowd were singing Ariana's song with the lyrics:
"This is the part when I say I don't want ya
I'm stronger than I've been before
This is the part when I break free
'Cause I can't resist it no more."
Last Sunday, Emerald Avenue in Pasig City was filled with waves of people in pink. The huge crowd held posters and colorful flags in pink to show their support for Robredo.
According to the Pasig City police, the crowd was estimated to be around 137,000. It even spilled over to EDSA and other nearby streets. The PasigLaban organizers placed their estimate at 180,000 attendees.
Aside from Ariana, Fil-Am vlogger and influencer Bretman Rock was also impressed with the PasigLaban crowd. On his Instagram story, he shared a photo of the "Kakampink" crowd.
In another post, he expressed his support for Robredo. He said, "This statement shook me to the core. My President is a woman."
He reposted Robredo's statement saying, "The best man for the job is a woman."
Meanwhile, Robredo expressed her appreciation for all her supporters and organizers who attended the grand rally. She also thanked the celebrities who performed for free.
Some of the celebrities who were there to entertain the crowd were Ben&Ben, Julia Barretto, Angel Locsin, Robi Domingo, Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, and more.
She wrote on Facebook, "My heart is full. Thank you to the thousands who braved the heat, stood for hours, shouted, chanted, and sang with us yesterday.
Thank you, most specially, to the PASIGLABAN Organizers (our Pasig volunteers) for all the sleepless nights, for going beyond all our expectations, and all the love you poured in.
Thank you to our guest performers, who not only performed for free, but risked, and continue to risk, their careers because of their great love of country.
Mabuhay po kayong lahat. Ito ang tunay na pag asa at pagkakaisa."
