MANILA, Philippines – Nine presidential candidates running in the May 9, 2022 elections are set to square off in the Comelec-accredited debate hosted by CNN Philippines on Sunday, February 27 at the University of Santo Tomas.
Labor leader Leody de Guzman, ex-presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella, Jose Montemayor Jr., former defense chief Norberto Gonzales, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Faisal Mangondato, Sen. Ping Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Vice President Leni Robredo are joining the event.
Meanwhile, former senator Bongbong Marcos is the lone presidential bet who will not attend the debates due to conflict of schedule. The survey frontrunner also skipped the presidential interview of veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho and the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas Presidential Forum.
The absence of Marcos will be felt as CNN Philippines will leave empty podium on the stage.
CNN anchors Pia Hontiveros and Pinky Webb will moderate the debate.
