MANILA, Philippines – Manila City Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso has tested positive for COVID-19.
As of writing, the Mayor of the nation's capital is on his way to Sta. Ana Hospital, Manila Public Information Office said in a statement on Sunday night, August 15.
"Nakararamdam ako ng kaunting ubo, kaunting sipon. Masakit ang aking katawan ngayon," Domagoso said.
Domagoso assured his constituents that the local government will continue its operations and efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Kapit lang. Tuloy ang buhay. Tuloy pa rin ang gobyerno sa Maynila. Umasa tayo, magtiwala tayo sa Diyos, makararaos din tayo," the Mayor said.
Today, the Philippines recorded 14,749 new COVID-19 cases, the new second highest single-day tally. It also confirmed its first case of the Lambda variant.
