The camp of the former President has been hushing claims that he has been facing several serious health issues, most of it related to his smoking habits. PNoy has allegedly been undergoing dialysis three times a week and fighting high sugar levels. There were also unconfirmed rumors that PNoy allegedly passed away due to stage 4 lung cancer.
Early last year, Aquino’s former spokesperson Abigail Valte belied claims of his failing health. She clarified that the stories surrounding the former chief executive's health were mere exaggerations.
"Reports of his ill-health are greatly exaggerated and mostly have no basis in truth," Valte said.
She also denied that PNoy underwent an operation and was diagnosed with acute kidney failure. In December 2020, he was reported to have undergone a "scheduled check-up and a routine procedure" at the Makati Medical Center, but did not disclose the specific procedure.
