MANILA, Philippines – Veteran entertainment journalist Ricky Lo has passed away, his family confirmed on Tuesday night. He was 75.
Lo died due to stroke, according to his sister Susan Lee, as reported by ABS-CBN News.
Lo worked as an associate editor and an entertainment editor for 35 years.
He was best remembered for his column Funfare on The Philippine Star.
“You will be remembered, Sir Ricky,” The Philippine Star said in a statement.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Entertainment editor and columnist Ricky Lo on May 4, 2021.”
In 1999, Lo became one of the hosts of the showbiz-oriented talk show, The Buzz, on ABS-CBN. He later transferred to GMA 7 and hosted Startalk. He also hosted other showbiz-oriented programs such as The Ricky Lo Exclusives in QTV 11 and Showbiz Stripped.
His career in the entertainment industry traces back to the late 1960s, with the old Manila Times and Philippines Daily Express.
