MANILA, Philippines – Pinoy boxing icon Manny Pacquiao confirmed on social media Saturday, May 22, that he will face the current unified welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr. in Las Vegas in August.
Pacquaio, 42, will be fighting for the first time since he beat Keith Thurman in July 2019 for the WBA welterweight title.
“Pacquiao vs Spence, August 21, 2021, Las Vegas, Nevada”, the promotional poster says.
As of press time, the exact venue of the bout is not yet confirmed but reports said it is expected to be the MGM Grand.
Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs), considered as the future Hall of Famer, has won championships in eight different divisions. Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) holds two of the four major belts in the 147-pound division.
Spence, 31, is coming off a dominant December victory over Danny Garcia, his first fight since surviving a near fatal rollover car accident.
