MANILA, Philippines – A 15-year-old student’s life was tragically cut short after a neighbor allegedly shot him dead when he refused to run errands for him.
Reports claim that Richard Misa, a Grade 7 student from Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, was reportedly gunned by his 19-year-old neighbor identified as Anwar Pascan E. Piang a.k.a. "Alias Negro” on Wednesday, May 5.
According to Richard’s parents, the teen boy usually accepted and ran errands for neighbors in exchange for a small amount. The victim’s father Raul Misa recalled that the youth would usually follow his neighbors’ requests.
"Kahit anong bagay po, inuutusan, sumusunod po ‘yan,” Raul revealed.
However on Wednesday, the victim declined to follow Anwar’s order to buy softdrinks because he was already tired.
"Nabalitaan ko 'yung huling tinanggihan niya 'yung softdrinks po, sabi niya 'Kuya pagod na po ako, pahinga na po ako,” Raul explained.
Allegedly annoyed by Richard’s response, Anwar reportedly took out his gun and pointed it at the victim. Witnesses claim that he pulled the trigger twice but the gun failed to fire. On his third attempt, Anwar allegedly shot the teenager hitting him in the left eye.
“Naglabas yata ng baril pinaglaruan po sa harap ng anak ko. Merong witness na nagsabi sa akin na dalawang kalabit, hindi pumutok. 'Yung pangatlong kalabit, 'yun na po ‘yun," Raul said.
Suspect arrested
Three days after the incident, Anwar was arrested by Pasig Police headed by Police Staff Sergeant Joselito Sedeño during a follow-up operation at a night market in Pasay City. Authorities have recovered the firearm used by Anwar.
The suspect, who is under the custody of the Pasig City Police Criminal Investigation Division, claims that he accidentally shot Richard.
Anwar is yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
