MANILA, Philippines –
To encourage the Filipino youth to think out of the box and come up with innovative solutions to modern problems, telecommunications giant Globe has partnered with Animo Labs of De La Salle University-Manila to bring Globe 5G Hackathon.
Dubbed as the country’s biggest hackathon event, the first-ever #Globe5GHackathon competition, which will focus on the use of Globe’s 5G technology in various sectors of the Philippine economy and society, is open to students as well as young professionals all over the country.
Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, Globe Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Globe believes that the youth can unlock the nation’s potential through breakthrough innovations. By giving them a platform and the right tools to turn their ideas into reality, they can create lasting impact through the proper use of 5G technology.”
The enablement workshops, scheduled from May 21 to June 5, 2021, will allow the participants to get the right knowledge and resources that will help them come up with the right ideas. Experts on 5G technology and innovation will coach and mentor the participants.
Thirty teams will be selected to participate in the Idea Pitch Competition, while ten participating teams will be selected to participate in the two-week Hackathon where they will present and demonstrate their prototype.
The top three teams who will be selected winners of the competition will get exciting prizes as well as the chance to turn their ideas into reality with funding from one of Globe’s partners, 917Ventures. Winners will be announced on September 3, 2021.
Interested participants must form a team with 2 to five members and must register online until June 5, 2021.
