MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to announce on Monday, May 31, the community quarantine status of National Capital Region (NCR) plus and other regions for the month of June.
This was confirmed by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles in an interview over Brigada News FM.

UPDATE: Duterte announces quarantine classifications for June 2021
Earlier, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said there are several factors that need to be considered before relaxing the restrictions of Metro Manila and adjacent provinces Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan or "NCR Plus", which is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) but with heightened restrictions.
“Under existing criteria, that’s generally a basis for relaxation of quarantine classification. But we have to decide considering all factors, including the recommendations of our implementers, our mayors,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Octa Research group have recommended to extend the GCQ status of NCR Plus in June.
"While we believe that we can relax restrictions, we think we should try to retain the GCQ at this time because the cases are still significant," Guido David said.
David said that the "with heightened restrictions" part of the classification can now be removed.
Experts observe a decline of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila, with more than 1,000 cases per day and the reproduction number declining to 0.53.
While there is a downward trend in cases in Metro Manila, the task force observed an upward trend in many areas in the country.
“In Batangas and Pampanga, COVID cases are increasing, including the attack rate. At present, our situation in Metro Manila is improving but we noticed a spike in COVID cases in the provinces, including Mindanao and Visayas,” National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. said.
“Cases are increasing in Regions VI, IX, X, XI, and also Palawan in the past days,” he added.
As of Sunday, May 30, the Department of Health logged 7,058 new cases of COVID-19, 6,852 new recoveries and 139 new fatalities. The Philippines now has 1,223,627 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 1,149,010 recoveries and 20,860 deaths. Of the total, 53,757 are active cases or people who are currently sick.
