MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo recently trended on Twitter following the release of her introduction video.
The #HalaBiRabiya became a trending topic on social platform as netizens are thrilled with Rabiya's presence at the Miss Universe pageant. The Philippine bet impressed the fans with her introduction video which focused on her advocacy, education for the youth.
In her Miss Universe introduction video, Rabiya opened up about her humble beginnings and how education played a vital role in giving her a better future. “I really had my humble beginnings and education had transformed my life,” she said.
Rabiya explained that as a teacher, she hopes more young people would appreciate the importance of education, especially in achieving a better life.
“I live in the country with a lot of poor families and education is our social equalizer. That regardless of what background we have, what status of your family if you educate yourself you will be able to land a great job,” said Rabiya.
If she were to be crowned to be the next Miss Universe, Rabiya said she'll do her best "to champion for other people."
"What we need nowadays is not just a beauty queen with a pretty face but phenomenal women who are not afraid to speak and stand for the things that they believe in," she remarked.
