MANILA, Philippines – A groom-to-be’s life was tragically cut short after being hit by a dumptruck at Davao-Bukidnon National Highway, Datu Abing De Lara Street, Calinan District on Wednesday, March 31.
The victim, Alberto “Jonex” Balano Jr., was distributing wedding invitations along with his fiance Melejie Hermoso prior to the road accident. Although Balano was brought to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. On the other hand, Hermoso survived the accident.
Balano and Hermoso were supposed to tie the knot on April 10.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, Balano and Hermoso were onboard a motorcycle cruising along Davao-Bukidnon National Highway when the brakes of a dumptruck suddenly failed causing a collision. Balano fell of his motorcyle and eventually landed under the wheels of the moving dumptruck leading to his death.
“And the most heartbreaking is when you visit sir Jonex Balano timeline, he is really excited and ready for their wedding. Rest in peace sir, my condolences to his fiancee and to the whole family. Always keep safe everyone.”
Based on his social media posts, Balano was really looking forward to his wedding day. He even shared several photos of the preparations for their upcoming wedding in a number of social media posts.
Netizens expressed their grief over the untimely passing of Balano. Many pointed out the famous Filipino superstition that soon-to-be-married individuals should refrain from going out prior to their wedding to avoid accidents.
“Talagang hindi natin hawak ang buhay, hindi natin alam kung kailan tayo kukunin. Pamahiin man o talagang nakatadhana wala na tayong magagawa kung yun ang kalooban ng Diyos. Please, keep safe everyone most especially sa mga motorista. And once again, my deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” netizen commented.
