MANILA, Philippines – GMA Network and Angel Locsin's fiancé Neil Arce responded to claims that the actress secretly gave money to a Kapuso ‘reporter’.
On Friday, April 23, a controversial video of Angel at her birthday community pantry has gone viral. In the video, Angel can be seen walking among a throng of people, when suddenly she happened to see a man wearing a navy blue shirt with a logo and wearing an ID. They quickly held hands as if Angel was giving her something. The man nodded as if in agreement.

Netizens were quick to draw assumptions on the video. Mark Lopez, a staunch Duterte supporter was one of those who reacted about the video. He captioned it with, "Bakit nagabot ng pera si Angel Locsin sa taga GMA network? Anong meron?"
In a separate post, Lopez also shared screenshots of the ID worn by the man and wrote a lengthy commentary. He wrote, "So mainit ang issue ngayon. Question - bakit inaabutan ni Angel Locsin ng pera ang isang staff ng GMA Network? Bakit inabutan ka ng pera ng staff mo (naka green), tapos ibinigay mo ung pera dun sa taga GMA na naka itim and may company ID?"
"Anung meron Angel? May utang ka ba dun sa staff ng GMA Network? Or is that what we call ENVELOPMENTAL JOURNALISM?," he added.
Following the viral video, GMA issued a statement denying that the man was an employee of their news network.
"Kaugnay po ng community pantry na itinayo ni Angel Locsin, meron pong nagpost sa social media ng larawan at video ng aktres na may iniabot sa lalaking may ID lanyard na GMA Network."
"Ang nasabing lalaki ay hindi bahagi ng GMA News and Public Affairs coverage team. Siya po ay isang talent makeup artist ng isang programa sa GMA. Wala pong koneksyon ang GMA sa kanyang pagpunta sa lugar."
"Kinumpirma ng fiance ni Angel sa isang post na ang lalaki ay dating make-up artist ni Angel nung si Angel ay nasa GMA pa," the post stated.
Neil defended Angel and clarified the viral video. Like GMA, he noted how the man was Angel's former make-up artist.
"People are claiming inabutan daw ni Angel yung reporter. Make up artist Po niya yun sa GMA. Where do these people get their newS?!?!"
