MANILA, Philippines – Even if she is blind, Minnie Aveline Juan has proven that nothing is impossible after she graduated as summa cum laude with the course of Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Special Education from Virgen Milagrosa University in San Carlos, Pangasinan.
Minnie hails from a family of doctors as the second of four children. Born blind, she was guided by her parents Dr. Angelo Juan at Dr. Maria Lilia Juan to live a normal life just like her siblings. They provided her with lots of opportunities for learning that allowed her to do well in school.
Thus, despite being blind, Minnie excelled so well in her studies that she was a consistent honor student even from her elementary years to high school. She earned medals when she graduated from grade school and high school.
Minnie completed her first degree, Bachelor of Arts in English, from Trinity College of Quezon City as magna cum laude. This feat earned her admiration from everyone in the community.
But everyone felt truly awed and inspired by Minnie when she completed her second course as summa cum laude. She might be blind but she completed two college courses with flying colors! There are many students who struggle to pass their respective courses yet Minnie made these look so easy.
After graduating from her education course, Minnie was able to land a job as teacher at her alma mater, Vergen Milagrosa University in Pangasinan. The young woman has become an inspiring teacher to others who are also visually impaired just like herself.
She also got married and now has one child.
