MANILA, Philippines – A close friend of the suspects involved in the alleged rape-slay of flight attendant Christine Dacera has spoken to defend them on social media.
On Facebook, netizen Avie Santos posted a lengthy message to explain that there might be more to the story being revealed by the authorities. Dacera, 23, was found dead in a hotel room's bathtub after a New Year's Eve party with friends. Authorities charged 11 suspects with rape with homicide. Initially, the cause of death was aneurysm but Makati police said they said several factors have contributed to it.

Santos, who admitted to be a friend of many of the suspects said the media are altering the story to "make it juicy." She claimed the suspects are not rapist and said the cops need to show the evidence that Dacera died of natural cause, aneurysm. She also said this case might be used as a "distraction."
"ILABAS NIYO YUNG AUTOPSY REPORT NA ANEURYSM YUNG KINAMATAY!ANO TO ANOTHER DISTRACTION??? WAY TO UNSHOW YOUR INCOMPETENCIES?! SEEKING FOR JUSTICE SAAN? SA INJUSTICE JUSTICE SYSTEM NATIN?"
Santos said the suspects are all gay and gentlemen and Dacera was their close friend as the "babaeng bakla" of the group. She appealed to the public not to easily believe what they read. She said, "Please don't bash kasi di niyo naman alam totoong nangyari. Wag kayong magpaikot sa mga yan. Siyempre nga naman from 2020 villain to 2021 hero."
She said that while it's true that "rape is rape" there are no proof that the suspects did it and yet their lives are already destroyed. "TIGILAN NIYO YANG ‘MAKE THEIR NAMES KNOWN’!!! We all get it na rape is rape, pero wala pang proof na ginawa nila yun, pero pano na ang buhay nila??? Sira na," Santos said.
She also sent a message to her friends and said she will stand by them. Santos said, "To my friends, Luy, Mark, Rey, JP, Paul, and Rom, I believe in all of you. I will pray for you! I will stand by you. Truth will set you free. I can’t wait to hug you all. Be strong and have faith! I love you guys!"
Santos even had a message for Dacera and said they all know that their friends are innocent. She said, "Rest in peace, Tin. I know we didn’t get a chance to bond together despite being the ‘babaeng bakla’ in the same circle but we know these people personally and we surely both know that they are not capable of ‘that’. Fly high!"
She posted more photos and videos of their "kabaklaan" moments to show that the suspects are good people.
Santos said her purpose in defending the suspects is due to the wrong information being shared about them. She said, " They are not even at large and they are already coordinating with their lawyers. 'DUE PROCESS' search it on google if you don’t know it!"
