POEA hiring nurses for Germany, salary at approximately P140,000 monthly

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has announced that they are in need of nurses for deployment to Germany.

POEA hiring nurses for Germany Triple Win Project

The agency opened its application to Germany's Triple Win program, which is a bilateral diplomatic project between the Philippines and Germany. Started in 2013, the program helps address the needs of Germany’s healthcare sector while providing job opportunities for participating countries.

On its official website, POEA posted its job memo stating that the International Placement Service of the German Federal Employment Agency (ZAV/BA) is in urgent need of qualified applicants for registered nurses in the following areas:
  • Intensive Care Unit
  • Geriatric Care/Nursing Home/Elderly Care*
  • General Ward
  • Medical and Surgery Ward
  • Operating Room
  • Neurology, Orthopedics and related fields
  • Psychiatry

*Please note that nursing homes in Germany are inpatient facilities, where geriatric nurses deal with older people in need for help with different health conditions (unlike being a Private Duty Nurse).

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Active Philippine Nursing License
  • At least one (1) year related professional experience (bedside) in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and/or care institutions

Hired applicants will get to enjoy the generous benefits and compensation. They will have a starting monthly salary of (gross) 2,000 Euros or approximately P117,000. It will be increased to 2,400 Euros or approximately P140,000 after recognition as a qualified nurse.

The employer will shoulder the visa and airfare expenses of the hired applicant from the Philippines to Germany. The employer will also assist the employee in finding a suitable accommodation but will be paid by the nurse in full or in part, depending on their agreement with the employer.

Applicants will also bear the costs of the required medical examination with a Philippine DOH-accredited medical clinic of their choice.

During the selection procedure, a language proficiency test is conducted at no cost to the hired applicants. In preparation, they will undergo a language course and nursing skills course. Accommodation and meals for the preparatory period are covered by the project (in part or in full, depending on place of residence).

It is possible for the applicant’s family to join him or her if certain conditions are met, including the provision of adequate income and accommodation.

To apply, applicants must register via the official website of POEA via www.poea.gov.ph or http://onlineservices.poea.gov.ph/OnlineServices/POEAOnline.aspx.

The required documents must be personally submitted at the counters of Manpower Registry Division, Ground Floor, Blas F. Ople Bldg. (formerly POEA Bldg.), Ortigas Avenue corner EDSA, Mandaluyong City (fastened in a folder and properly labeled with RSF No. ____, Applicant’s Name, Position Applied For, Country of Destination, PEOS Online Number and ERegistration Number), during their respective schedule of appointment.

Update on deployment of nurses abroad

Recently, the POEA Governing Board has issued a resolution lifting the moratorium or temporary suspension of deployment of newly hired nurses, nursing aides and nursing assistants, effective immediately.

However, POEA Administrator Usec. Bernard Olalia said they are putting a sealing or 5,000 cap per annum that will begin on January 1, 2021 for new hires. It will cover all 14 healthcare workers listed under mission critical skills in the POEA Governing Board Resolution No. 9.

This includes medical doctors/physicians, nurses, microbiologists, molecular biologists, medical technologists, clinical analysts, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, x-ray/radiologic technicians, nursing assistants/nursing aid, operators of medical equipment, supervisors of health services and personal care and repairmen of medical-hospital equipment.
