MANILA, Philippines – A ninong got blocked for not giving Php1,000 as ‘pamasko’ that his kumpare asked for his godson’s milk! His post went viral, with many netizens pointing out that it is not the primary role of godparents to provide for their godchildren’s milk and other basic needs.
Just like a lot of adults, Harry Engelo Anthony Paala also has godchildren. Because Pinoys often expect godparents to give gifts for Christmas, birthday, and other special occasions, he allocated Php500 for one of his godchildren.

But Harry was surprised when the boy’s father wanted more, telling him that he should give Php1,000 as ‘pamasko’ because there will be four of them traveling to his house to collect the cash. This irked a lot of netizens who pointed out that the fare in going to a ninong’s house should not be paid for by the ninong, too!

Though Harry insisted that he could only give Php500, his kumpare half-jokingly insisted that he should give Php1,000 because the boy doesn’t have milk anymore. He told the kumpare that he is already working in Mindoro so they can’t pick up the cash. But the guy simply told him to send the gift through a money remittance center, instead.

The kumpare actually got angry, telling him that he is giving too many reasons not to give the money. The guy thinks that he should really give Php1,000 because he has two jobs – one as teacher and another as DJ. Apparently, the guy thinks that having two jobs meant he has a lot of money and should, therefore, have a bigger budget for his godson’s gift.

When he still refused to send that amount, the kumpare decided to block him on Messenger. The guy told him to simply text him after sending the money because he does not want to experience negative vibes for Christmas.
