MANILA, Philippines –
Malacañang Palace announced on Wednesday the suspension of classes and government work in Metro Manila and six other areas in Luzon on November 12 due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon 'Ulysses' (Vamco).
The order took effect at 3 pm Wednesday and will last until Thursday, according to Memorandum Circular 82 issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
The cancellation of classes in public schools and government work includes the following:
Meanwhile, Palace said the suspension of work for private companies, offices, and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

According to the automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, the local government units (LGUs) have the authority to declare local suspensions.
Typhoon 'Ulysses' was packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and 195 kph gusts, as of 8 p.m., said state weather bureau PAGASA. It is the 21st tropical storm to hit the Philippines this year.
'Ulysses' is due to make landfall in Polilio Island on between 10:00 pm tonight and 12:00 am tomorrow and over the northern portion of mainland Quezon between 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM tomorrow.
Afterwards, the typhoon will cross Central Luzon and emerge over the western seaboard of Zambales tomorrow morning.
