POEA: Israel hiring Filipino caregivers with monthly salary of around P75K

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced Tuesday that Israel is in need of Filipino caregivers.

At least 500 Filipino jobseekers will now have a chance to live and work as caregivers in Israel. The POEA said that since the hiring would be under a government-to-government scheme, no placement fee is required but applicants will have to shoulder minimal fees in processing some documents.

The contract will be for a maximum of five years with a monthly salary of $1,500 or around Php 75,000. Hired applicants will have to shoulder their own airfare.

POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said applicants should be at least 23 years old, with a height of at least 4’11” and weight of at least 45 kilograms. “Baka may pasyente silang medyo mabigat, hindi puwedeng maliit ‘yong ating caregiver,” Olalia said.

They must be able to speak in English fluently, have no relatives in Israel and will be their first time in the country. The POEA said Israel is looking at hiring 90% female and 10% male workers.

A college diploma is not required but applicants must at least be a high school graduate. They should have also finished the caregiving course at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Licensed nurses are supposed to be qualified to apply for the job, however, due to the travel restrictions for healthcare workers, POEA will not allow them to apply for now.

Interested applicants for the caregiver position can now apply at www.poea.gov.ph. The agency said they will choose the 500 qualified applicants by lottery.

Earlier, POEA announced that the State of Israel’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) has allowed the entry and re-entry of foreign workers in the caregiving sector. Even those who are already hired as caregivers but who were not able to return to Israel due pandemic are now free to enter the country.
