MANILA, Philippines – State weather bureau PAGASA is now monitoring a low pressure area (LPA), which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today, November 29, 2020.
The LPA spotted 1,500 east of Mindanao as of 4:00 am on Sunday could enter PAR this afternoon or evening.
"Mababa po ang chance na maging isang bagyo sa ngayon pero ang itong low pressure area ay nakikitang magdadala ng ulan sa susunod na 2 or 3 araw habang lumalapit sa parte ng Visayas and Southern Luzon," said DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja.
Three weather systems are currently affecting the country:
1. Northeast Monsoon or 'amihan' being felt in Northern Luzon and western parts of Central Luzon. Estareja said that 'amihan' brought cold air.
2. Easterlies or dry and warm air from Pacific Ocean brings thunderstorms being experienced in parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
3. Tail-end of a Frontal System (the convergence of cold air from the northeast and hot air from Pacific Ocean) is affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
Forecast Weather Conditions
Area: Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region
Area: Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Central Luzon and CALABARZON
Area: The rest of the country
In the past weeks, Typhoon 'Ulysses', Super Typhoon 'Rolly' and Typhoon 'Quinta' caused widespread damage in the country.
'Bagyong Ulysses' was the Philippines' 21st tropical cyclone for 2020 and third for November.
The weather bureau advised of more cyclones that could enter PAR until December.
PAGASA declared the onset of rainy season on June 12.
