MANILA, Philippines – Actress Angel Locsin was "body-shamed" in a learning module allegedly from the Department of Education (DepEd) Occidental Mindoro division.
Photos of a learning module recently became viral as it used Angel as an example of an 'obese' person. Under the subject PE and Health, a question asked about the lifestyle of an unfit person.
The module stated, “SITUATION. Angel Locsin is an obese person. She, together with Coco Martin, eats fatty and sweet food in MANG INASAL fast food restaurant most of the time. In her house, she is always watching television and does not have any physical activities."
"QUESTIONS: (5 pts each) 1. What do you think will happen to Angel if she continues her lifestyle? 2. How do lifestyle affects the health of an individual?"
More photos showed that the module was allegedly from the Schools Division of Occidental Mindoro and was prepared by the subject teacher named Keith Richard Firme.
The photos have yet to be verified by DepEd as the agency is still mum on the issue.
Netizens and fans of Angel expressed their frustration over the viral photos. Many said that if it is indeed true, the teacher acted very unprofessional.
A netizen said, "NOT A GOOD JOKE! Masyadong namersonal, huh. We really don't know kung anong pinagdaan ni Angel Locsin. Baka pwedeng let's be positive and be happy to everybody. Stop bodyshaming!"
Another also posted why it's important to be sensitive when it comes to using popular people as examples. She said, "Okay lang namang gumamit ng mga pangalan ng sikat na tao as examples sa situation or sentences kasi mas navivisualize ng mga bata yung idea pero hangga't maaari sana positive naman ang statement lalo't kilala ang gagamitin mong pangalan. Ke totoo o hindi, hindi dapat sa atin manggagaling yan dahil di naman natin katawan yan. Hindi ka doktor, hindi ka rin health expert. Just saying."
