On Saturday, medical groups appealed to the Palace to bring back Mega Manila to stricter ECQ until August 15, citing an overwhelmed healthcare system and “burned out” frontliners.
Mega Manila includes Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA.
Roque shunned the calls of medical professionals and said the strict lockdown in Metro Manila has “served its purpose,” and the government needs to “intensify other strategies.”
Senator Cynthia Villar who had similar response earned criticism online for her remarks but it was clarified on Sunday.
