MANILA, Philippines – A tricycle driver inspires netizens after his daughters were able to graduate as dentist and pharmacist, thanks to his hard work and sacrifice.
It is a fact that tricycle drivers don’t earn a lot of money, yet there are many of them who still do their best at this job to make sure that their family has enough food on the table. They also strive harder to ensure that they can send their children to school.
For many struggling families such as those of a tricycle driver, education is their key to success and the only hope that their children will have a brighter future.
Dr. Marga Santiago Suoborin proudly shares the inspiring story of how their father was able to send them to school. She is now a dentist and her sister a pharmacist – all thanks to their tricycle driver dad!

She narrated that she had really wanted to be a flight attendant but by the time she was picking a course for college, her parents had other ideas. Her mother wanted her to take up accountancy as she is an accountant while her dad wished that she would become a dentist.
According to Dr. Marga, though her father is a tricycle driver, he actually graduated as a marine engineer but chose this path to be with his family.
When he suggested that she take up dentistry, she refused at first as she knew that this could be quite expensive! But her dad promised to ensure that she and her sister will be able to finish their studies.
“Okay lang yan mag enroll ka. Kaya natin yan. Pagsisikapan ko yan!” he promised.
True enough, he worked harder. He would wake up as early as 4AM to work at their farm before setting off as a tricycle driver starting at 6AM after sending the kids to school. He saved every penny he earned so that he was able to provide for his children’s needs!
According to Dr. Marga, there was even a time when she had to ask him for Php20k to buy dental materials yet he was unfazed and simply gave her the amount. He worked hard and also trusted that she understands his sacrifice. She did well in school and was eventually able to become a licensed dentist.
Dr. Marga also acknowledges the support of her mother, tita, and cousin who helped a lot. But she also wanted to honor her tricycle driver dad who ensured that they are able to finish their studies and have a better future…
“My father is a farmer and a tricycle driver and he's my real life superhero. Nothing can change that,” said Dr. Marga.
