MANILA, Philippines — Roxanne Allison Baeyens of Baguio City made a history for winning the first-ever virtual coronation of 'Miss Philippines Earth', a groundbreaking move due to coronavirus pandemic, on Sunday, July 5.
Baeyens bested 32 candidates from all over the Philippines as well as Filipinas based abroad, for the coveted 'Miss Philippines Earth 2020' title. She will represent the country in the Miss Earth international competition.
The Baguio City bet succeeded Miss Philippines Earth 2019 Janelle Tee for the role of environmental ambassador.

The pageant was done online to ensure not only the well-being of everyone but also to comply with strict social distancing guidelines and safety protocols.
"The decision to push through with the event underwent a series of discussions that considered the challenges imposed by the pandemic, but at the same time, the goal to continue on promoting its enduring advocacy for environmental care and protection," the organizers said.
