MANILA, Philippines – The Malacañang Palace finally announced on Thursday the proclamation declaring a regular holiday throughout the country for Eidul Adha or "Feast of Sacrifice," which likely to fall on Friday, July 31, 2020.
July 30 Update: Palace declares July 31, 2020 a regular holiday for Eid’l Adha.
July 29 Update: Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque asks the public to wait for the official announcement on expected holiday this Friday, July 31 for Eid al-Adha.
Saudi Arabia's Um al-Qura calendar marks Eidul Adha 2020 Muslim Festival in the last week of July, with the official date and confirmation to be announced by the High Judicial Court (HJC) after the moon sighting.
Note that for Eid al-Fitr (Feast of Ramadan), with projection either on May 24 or 25, the Philippine government declared regular holiday on the second day of the calculated date.
Due to coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on religious activities, observance of Eidul Adha this year will be different to prevent spread of the disease.
Eid al-Adha, one of largest religious festivals for Muslims worldwide, marks the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Ismail or Ismael) as an act of obedience to God, before God then intervened, to provide him with a sheep to sacrifice instead.
In the Philippines, Republic Act (RA) 9849 signed in 2009 says the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah or the twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar, is hereby declared as a national holiday for the observance of Eidul Adha.
According to Proclamation No. 845 for the nationwide holidays for the year 2020, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President of the actual date of Eidul Adha on which this holiday shall fall.

ReplyDeleteSi Isaac ang in-offer hindi si Ishmael according to the Bible.
ReplyDeleteThe holiday is Feast of Sacrifice by our brother Muslims. Hence, the feast is based on their Quoran (Koran - bible of Muslims) it was Ishmael. But according to Christian Bible, it was Isaac. Their statement above regarding the Feast of Sacrifice is based on the Muslim Traditions. Be informed.
DeleteSa Bible si Isaac talaga, pero sa mga Muslim si Ishmael, Di talaga po magtutugma, di naman iisa ang Diyos nating mga Christian sa dios ng Muslim e
