MANILA, Philippines – Inka Magnaye is the current in-flight voice-over talent for the Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flagship carrier, but her clients were surprised to learn that her mom had also been PAL’s voice over talent back in the ‘90s!
If you’ve ever taken a flight with PAL, you would be familiar with the strong yet soothing voice of Inka as she gives the standard flight precautions that everyone hears right before take-off. But she actually got the job even without mentioning that her mom had been the company’s voice over talent, too. She passed the blind auditions, winning the contract over several other ladies who applied for the position.
Inka’s mom, Lindy Pellicer, has over 40 years of experience in the voice over industry. Yet it was amazing that Inka would be picked for the same job as her mom’s!
Inka recently shared a video with her mom as they took turns reciting PAL’s in-flight instructional script. Frequent travelers will easily recognize both their voices in a big ‘Aha!’ moment.
“Clients were amazed because out of a blind audition where several women sent in their samples, my voice was chosen, without knowing who I was or who my mom was, because I sounded the most like their brand. And it made sense because my mom was the sound of their brand, and I sound like my mom,” Inka explained in the video she posted.

Inka also revealed that her PAL project isn’t the first time that she and her mom worked for the same brand or company. They have also made collaborations with banks and skin care products, with Lindy doing the voice over for products aimed at older women while Inka does the ones for the younger ladies.
“My mom is one of my biggest mentors in my voice over career, and I learn from her every day. Even just doing this video with her, I learned so much just by listening to her change the pace, style, and words she’d emphasize. Someone on TikTok said my mom did it so much better than I did, and my god OF COURSE SHE DID because she’s damn amazing and if I could reach her skill level, I can die happy. I’m learning from the best 💕 (Advanced) HAPPY MOTHER’s DAY, Mom!! I love you!! You inspire me!!” Inka wrote.
