MANILA, Philippines – The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board officially announced Tuesday the cancellation of all games in the second semester of Season 82.
This came after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the extension of enhanced community quarantine or lockdown in Luzon until April 30 to sustain gains in containing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This will be the first time that UAAP cancelled a season.
In a Twitter post, Emmanuel Fernandez, UAAP Season 82 board president said "the conditions for the resumptions of UAAP Season 82 can no longer be met. As such, it is now deemed cancelled."
The memo was also signed by UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag.
UAAP originally planned to pursue an "alternative format" should the government lift the lockdown by April 15.
Cancelled events include men's and women's volleyball tournaments, and the men's football tournament.
Meanwhile, women's football tournament, baseball, softball, athletics, lawn tennis, and 3x3 basketball had all yet to start.
"All other issues related thereto will be resolved at the proper time, as we continue to focus our time, energy, and resources in battling this crisis," the memo said.
"Nevertheless, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our fans, partners, student-athletes, coaches, and all other members of the UAAP community," it added.
