MANILA, Philippines – Years ago, they passed the Board Exams in Accountancy together, becoming certified public accountants (CPAs) at the same time. But twins Flourence Kathrine Enriquez and Flourence Marie Enriquez were able to replicate this success as they passed the November 2019 Bar Exams together, too!
Although sibling rivalry is common in most families, the twins said there was never any competition between them. They were each other’s study buddies and mentors, also sharing and celebrating each other’s success.
In fact, having a twin who’s taking the same course meant that it was much easier and a bit cheaper for them to work towards their goals. As much as possible, unless required, they only bought one book per subject. Then, they simply worked on a study schedule so they won’t have to use the same book at the same time.
“We only bought one book for the both of us (except when required) and scheduled our study time for that subject,” Kathrine explained.

They were able to create a study setup wherein the first twin to read the book would highlight the key points. This saved them a lot of time and effort because the other is able to study the highlights, particularly in lengthy full cases.
Thanks to this setup, law became ‘lighter’ for the twins.
“We would study together, we have the same set of friends, we helped each other even during recitations. We motivate each other, and one scolds the other if the latter has lower grades,” Kathrine added.
They were often called on by their professors during recitations, something that they believe is due to the instructors remembering them more because they are twins. They used that as an added motivator to study more.
Now that they are both CPA lawyers, the two honored their late parents.
“We lost our mom when we were 12 years old and our dad during our last year in college. It was really our Papa's dream of becoming a CPA-Lawyer. We think of them, of their sacrifices, and their beaming faces because we know they are proud of us,” Kathrine mused.
The twins studied at Arellano University of Law. They were able to receive scholarships in the form of refunds from the school for doing well in their studies. This helped a lot, particularly after they lost their dad. They also received help from their siblings, particularly from an OFW sister.
Thankful over their success, the plan to pay it forward by teaching law in hopes of being able to help others reach their dreams of becoming a lawyer. But for now, they plan to do corporate work, specializing in the field of tax practice, since this is something they had been doing as CPAs since 2012.
Congratulations to you both, Atty. Kathrine and Atty. Marie Enriquez!
