MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) announced Tuesday a record-high 53 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to 295. Meanwhile, total cases now breached the 5,000-mark.
The number of reported recoveries only covers those treated at hospitals and has yet to include those who are undergoing home or self-quarantine, the health department said.
Early this month, daily recoveries were only in the single digits.
DOH said it takes 2 weeks for mild cases to recover while 3 to 6 weeks for critical cases.
DOH on Tuesday also said 291 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, bringing the total to 5,223.
Meanwhile, 20 more patients have died from the dreadful disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 335.
The government already started today its expanded COVID-19 testing to cover more patients.
