MANILA - The Philippine government on Saturday, April 18, confirmed 209 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, raising the nation's tally to 6,087.
The Department of Health (DOH) also reported 10 new deaths from the virus, bringing the death toll to 397.
Meanwhile, 29 more patients have recovered from the highly-contagious disease. A total of 516 have so far recovered from COVID-19 in the country.
The pandemic originated from Wuhan City in Hubei province, China before spreading to nearly 200 countries and territories.
According to tally of World Health Organization (WHO), more than 2 million cases of the novel coronavirus have been registered worldwide, of which, more than 139,000 people have died.
As of today, the country's health ministry already have 17 Certified Laboratories in the country that are capable of conducting Real Time RT-PCR for COVID-19. DOH continues to strengthen testing capabilities of different laboratories across the country.
