MANILA, Philippines – A woman was arrested for assaulting a policeman at the checkpoint and later posting photos on Facebook, ranting and wishing COVID-19 on him and his family! The policeman had gotten wind of the rant and filed a formal complaint against the woman, leading to her arrest.

Jamellah Duatin, 27 years old and jobless, faces charges for violating Art. 151 of the revised penal code (disobedience to an agent or person in authority), Art. 148 (direct assault against an officer), and cyber libel.

This started after Duatin got angry at a policeman at the checkpoint in Moncada, Tarlac, who refused to let her in, following orders for the enhanced community quarantine. She was fuming mad that the policeman won’t let her in despite her husband living in that area. It was later revealed that the guy is not her husband but her live-in partner.

The woman got angry that the policeman won’t honor her community quarantine pass from San Manuel, Tarlac, despite her explanations that her husband (live-in partner) lives in Moncada. She reportedly assaulted the officer and later posted angry rants against him on her Facebook account. She even wished that he and his family would have COVID-19.

“Napatunayan ko may mga bobo ding pulis,” Duatin wrote on her Facebook account.

On her ‘My Day’ story, she angrily wished him and his family, including his children, harm.

The policeman was later identified as Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg) Rogelio Palad.

The incident happened last March 26 at Moncada Public Market. Though the policeman had no idea that she took photos which she posted on her Facebook account, the policeman’s friends saw the post and told him about it.

After learning of the post that degraded his personality and reputation as Police Officer, Palad filed a complaint before the police station. Duatin was later arrested from Brgy. Salcedo in San Manuel. The policeman is determined to file the aforementioned cases against Duatin.
