MANILA, Philippines – A plane has crashed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Sunday evening, March 29, killing all 8 people onboard.
Huge fire was also seen after Lion Air Westwind RP-C5880 ambulance aircraft, bound for Haneda, Japan for a medical evacuation mission, burned on take off at NAIA runway around 8:00 p.m.
Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross, earlier shared on Twitter that there were eight passengers on board: a flight medic, nurse, doctor, three flight crew, one patient and its companion.

"Fire and medic teams were already dispatched to NAIA Terminal 2 to respond to the plane crash incident," Gordon said.
UPDATE: No passenger survived the accident, a statement from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire was already out at 9:02 p.m.
Lionair, Inc. is a partner of the Department of Health in serving the people of Visayas and Mindanao. The Philippine-based firm has been instrumental in transporting medical supplies to hospitals in these two regions. Just a few hours before the accident, the aircraft finished transporting health commodities and supplies to Zamboanga, Mactan, Iloilo, and Butuan.
