MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) said that 82 new cases (PH381-PH462) of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been confirmed on Monday, March 23. This brings the total number of cases in the country to jump to 462.
This has been the biggest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases so far.
DOH also reported eight additional deaths and one new recovery.
The total number of deaths now at 33 while the total number of recovered patients is 18.
President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entirety of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine until April 12. Metro Manila will be in lockdown until April 14.
Globally, the disease has claimed lives of nearly 13,000 people with more than 290,000 infected of the virus.
